Cuban Long Jumper Gets Gold in Ostrava

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 13 (ACN) Cuban long jumper Juan Miguel Echevarria won the Gold Medal on Wednesday in Ostrava, Czech Republic where he jumped 8.66 meters constituting the best world mark of the season.
Echevarria, owner of the Gold medal in the indoor World Championship in Birmingham, Britain last March, jumped over 8.66 in his third attempt and was only five centimeters away from the national record set by Ivan Pedroso (8.71).
South Africans Lugo Manyonga (8.31) and Ruswahl Samaai (8.15) got Silver and Bronze, respectively, according to the website of the International Athletics Federation.
