Cuba to attend World Junior Athletics Championships with 13 AthletesHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 14 (acn) Cuba will attend with 13 athletes the 2018 World Junior Athletics Championships based in Tampere, Finland, from next July 10 to 15, led by triple jumper Jordan Diaz, 2017 U18 universal monarch.

Diaz impressed the planet last year when setting a world record for cadets of 17.30 meters, in a competition with a stage in Nairobi, Kenya.
The other Cuban gold medalists in Nairobi will also be in Tampere, those are the cases of Maikel Vidal (men´s long jump), Silinda Morales (women´s discus throw) and Amanda Almendariz (women´s hammer throw).
To that group that will compete in Finland we may also add Lester Lescay (men´s triple jump) and Yaritza Martinez (women´s hammer throw), who both ranked second in the African nation.
The group also includes the men Miguel Davirac (discus throw) and Miguel Zamora (hammer throw), in addition to the women Roxana Gomez (400m), Isis Guerra (high jump), Davisleidys Velazco (triple jump), Melany Matheus (discus throw) and Adriana Rodriguez (heptathlon).
According to a press release by the National Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation (INDER by its Spanish acronym), the absence of long jumper Maikel Masso, Poland 2016 world junior champion, is due to he recovered from an injury to his knee and successfully competed in the European Tour, but got injured again, this time in the back of the quadriceps.
