Cuban basketball players performing very well in foreign leagues

HAVANA, Cuba, May 25 (acn) The nomination of Anisleidy Galindo as MVP of the Dominican League and the excellent performance of Javier Justiz with the San Lorenzo de Almagro club, in Argentina, give prestige to Cuban basketball by these days.

Galindo won the award despite her team, the Vega Olimpicas, finished second after losing 96-103 in the fifth game of the final to the San Lazaro Murallas.
In that match she scored 37 points, while her countrywoman Yamara Amargo and local Jennifer Ramirez, shared the distinction of MVP of the final, and another Cuban, Marlene Cepeda, ranked third in the rebound leaders.
Eighteen Cubans were enrolled in several teams this season of the Dominican Basketball Women´s League.
The Cuban women´s national squad will hold three friendly matches next May 26, 27 and 28 against Guatemala as training for the 28th Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla 2018.
On the other hand, Justiz won 99-94 yesterday with the Argentine defending champion, which took advantage of 2-1 in the quarterfinal playoffs over the Obras Basket.
The Cuban pivot scored six points and grabbed five rebounds in that game.
The also Cubans Jasiel Rivero, Karel Guzman, Osmel Oliva and Yoanki Mensia, all key players for the national team that is training to attend the Central American and Caribbean Games, also played this season in Argentine clubs.
