Capablanca chess tournament: GM Shankland leads with 6 points

HAVANA, Cuba, May 18 (acn) Spaniard David Anton won for the third consecutive day and joined those Capablanca chess tournament: GM Shankland leads with 6 pointsopting for the title in the Elite group of the 2018 Capablanca Memorial Chess Championship, which only has two rounds left and American Samuel Shankland remains leader.

Shankland drew with Russian Aleksey Dreev in only 19 moves of a Semi-Tarrasch defense and continues as leader with six points, one more than Dreev.
After almost five hours, Anton beat Russian Aleksandr Rakhmanov in 79 plays of a Queen´s Pawn opening and now appears third with 4.5 units, followed by Rakhmanov and Cuban Yusnel Bacallo, both tied with 3 points.
The latter signed peace in only 14 moves of a Queen´s Pawn opening with his countryman Lazaro Bruzon, who ranks last with only 2.5 units.
Today, in the penultimate round, the leader Shankland will face Anton, while Russians Dreev and Rakmanov will rival against locals Bruzon and Bacallao, respectively.
In the Open group, Cuban Lelys Martinez drew with the also local Roberto Garcia, thus remaining leader with amount of 6.5 units and will face today the host Omar Almeida, one of the 10 players that escort him with six points.
