Cuban women´s baseball team placed in tough group at World CupHAVANA, Cuba, Apr 11 (acn) Cuba was included in the tough Poole B of the 2018 Women's Baseball World Cup, which will be held at the Space Coast Complex, in Viera, Florida, United States, from next August 22 to 31.

As announced by the World Baseball and Softball Confederation (WBSC), the 12 qualified teams have been divided into two groups of six sides each, and will compete under the round-robin system.
In addition to Cuba, Poole B also includes Japan, quintuple universal monarch and defending champion, as well as Canada, who ranked second in the last contest played in Gijang, South Korea in 2016; Australia, Hong Kong and the debutant Dominican Republic.

Meanwhile, United States, Puerto Rico, Chinese Taipei, South Korea, Holland and Venezuela, 2016 bronze medalist, appear in Group A.
The best three teams in each group will advance to the Super Round and the two squads with the best win-loss balance of this stage will compete for the title.
In Gijang 2016, Cuba finished eighth and its goal is improving that performance in this edition.
