HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 6 (acn) Cuban Osniel Solis will compete today in the first day of the Judo Grand Prix of Antalya, Turkey, from April 6 - 8, contest attended by 319 judokas from 50 countries in search of points for the world ranking.
According to the tournament website, Solis (66 kg) will debut against Georgian Bagrati Niniasvili, 2017 world junior bronze medalist.
The other Cubans involved in this event, Asley Gonzalez (90), Jose Armenteros (100) and Andy Granda (+100), will compete on Sunday and their opponents will be Iraqi Shihab Alquraishi, Uzbek Erbol Rustamov and Turkish Kadir Bingol, respectively.
After this contest, the four Cuban judokas will be in the national championship, scheduled to take place from April 8 to 11, in Havana.
They will also attend, along with five other teammates to be mentioned, the Pan-American Championship of San Jose, Costa Rica, qualifiers to the continental games of Lima 2019, event in which Cuba also registered its entire women´s team (9 athletes).
All these tournaments are part of the preparation for the Barranquilla 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, to take place from July 19 to August 3.
