HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 27 (acn) Four Cuba judokas will attend this weekend the Tbilisi Grand Prix, in Georgia, as part of their preparation for the Barranquilla 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games, to take place from July 19 to August 3 next.
The chosen ones by Julio Alderete, head coach of the Cuban national men´s squad, are Osniel Solis (81 kg), Asley Gonzalez (90), Jose Armenteros (100) and Andy Granda (+100).
The small Cuban team is led by Gonzalez, London 2012 Olympic runner-up and Rio de Janeiro 2013 world champion, and Armenteros, Chelyabinsk 2014 silver medalist.
Solis won this year the Lima Open, in Peru, and the National Challengers Match, just like Gonzalez and Granda (100 kilos), who is now competing in the higher division.
According to the website of the International Judo Federation (IJF), the tournament will be attended by 309 judokas (men and women) from 39 countries.
