Cubans keep great performance in Japan's Spring Training

Cubans keep great performance in Japan's Spring TrainingHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 23 (acn) Cubans Alfredo Despaigne and Livan Moinelo extended their winning streak when contributing to the 5-3 win of the Fukuoka SofkBank Hawk over the Hiroshima Toyo Carp in the preseason of Japanese Professional Baseball League (NPB).

Despaigne was the best hitter of his team when batting 2 for 4, including home run, double and two RBIs.

This was his fifth homerun in four pre-season games, including a three-homer match, thus showing his excellent shape when also considering he raised his batting average to .435, with 9 RBIs.

Last season, the Caribbean slugger was the homerun and RBI leader in the Pacific League with 35 and 103, respectively.

Meanwhile, the left-handed reliever Moinelo, who had not had a good start in this NPB preseason, showed that he is in clear recovery, since he retired the four batters he faced in one inning and a third, to lower his ERA to 4.50.

The 2018 NPB season officially kicks off next March 30th and the Fukuoka SofkBank Hawks of the Cubans Despaigne and Moinelo will face the Orix Buffaloes at home, in the Yafuoku Dome.
