HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 23 (acn) The bout between the twice Olympic champion Robeisy Ramirez (56 kg) and Yoel Finol, Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medalist, will be the best of today´s match in the 8th World Series of Boxing (WSB), in which the Cuba Domadores will face the Venezuela Caciques.
This will be a C-1 format match based in the Jose Maria Vargas Dome and the Cuban squad appears as favorite, although its rivals have already earned a good competitive endorsement.
Finol is very aggressive and already beat a Cuban when defeating Yosbany Veitia last year, in the 7th WSB, but in the 52 kilos division.
In another fight of the match, the world monarch Andy Cruz (64) will try to maintain his unbeaten status in WSB, when facing the almost unknown Christian Palacios.
Meanwhile, Damian Arce, light-flyweight national champion, has been chosen to replace Johanys Argilagos, who left the Cuban delegation that attended the Central American qualifiers in Tijuana, Mexico, will rival Luis Polanco.
In addition, Arlen Lopez, Olympic and world title holder, will clash with Endry Saavedra (75), while the world gold medalist Erislandy Savon (91) will face Albert Ramirez.
The Cuba Domadores rank first in Group A with two wins and one loss, just like the Uzbekistan Tigers, but the Caribbean side amounts 11 victories and four defeats, while the Uzbeks have an 8-7 balance.
These two teams will face each other again tomorrow, but in the C-2 format, which includes the divisions of 52, 60, 69, 81 and +91 kilograms.
Undoubtedly, the most expected bout of that match will be the one between Roniel Iglesias (69), Olympic and world champion, and Gabriel Maestre, 2013 universal bronze medalist, who defeated the Cuban in the final of the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games, but that was his only win over Iglesias versus three losses.
