Cuba wins Qualifying Boxing Tournament to Barranquilla 2018 Central American and Caribbean GamesHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 19 (acn) With eight scepters, Cuba won the boxing tournament held in Tijuana, Mexico, qualifiers to the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla, Colombia, next July.

In the final day, the four Cuba Olympic champions who climbed to the ring, Robeisy Ramirez (56 kg), Roniel Iglesias (69), Arlen Lopez (75) and Julio Cesar La Cruz (81), earned easy wins over Dominican Alexy de la Cruz and the locals Marcos Martinez, Diego Moreno and Rogelio Romero, in that order.
Cuba´s other crowns were to the world champions Andy Cruz (64), who beat Costa Rican Eduardo Sanchez; Lazaro Alvarez (60), victimizer of Colombian Albeiro Paredes, and Erislandy Savon (91), who defeated the also Colombian Julio Deivis.
The eighth Cuban gold medal went to superheavyweight Jose Angel Larduet, who won over Trinitarian Nigel Paul.
The squad coached by Rolando Acebal won all the bouts it carried out, although they lost two tickets to the regional competition because flyweight Johanys Argilagos abandoned the delegation and Yosbany Veitia (52) suffered a feverish state and could not climb to the ring.
