Cuban pair wins mixed double in Jamaican badminton tournament

HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 5 (acn) Cubans Osleni Guerrero and Yeily Ortiz won the mixed double event of the 4th Badminton International Tournament of Jamaica by defeating 2-0 (22-20 and 21-15) their teammates Leodanis Martinez and Taymara Oropesa.

Cuba also earned a bronze medal through Guerrero, third seed of the contest, who ranked third in the men´s single event when losing in semifinals 1-2 (21-18, 15-21 and 21-16) to Canada´s Jason Ho-Shue (2), who subsequently beat his countryman Xiaodong Sheng in the final.
According to the official website of the tournament, American Jamie Hsu won the women´s single event; and Hsu herself joined forces with teammate Jamie Subandhi to become champions in the women´s double, while Indians Kona Tarun and Saurabh Sharma were the monarchs in the men´s double.
