Cuban athletes continue successful European indoor tour

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 15 (acn) Three Cubans won medals in European-based competitions as part of their training ahead of the 2018 IAAF World Indoor Championships to be held from March 1 to 4 in the English city of Birmingham.

Yoandys Lescay ranked second in the men´s 400 meters with time of 46.93 seconds in the Catalunya International Meeting, in an event won by Dominican Luguelin Santos (46.67), London 2012 Olympic silver medalist.
In that same Spanish contest, heptathlonist Yorgelis Rodriguez competed in the women´s long jump and finished third with record of 6.29 meters, only surpassed by Brazilian Elaine Martins (6.44) and Bulgarian Milena Mitkova (6.31), in that order.
On the other hand, in International Meeting of Lievin, France, young Cristian Napoles achieved his indoor personal best with record of 17.02 meters in the men´s long jump event and escorted in the podium Brazilian Almir Dos Santos, who scored the season best with 17.37m.
