Cuba announces starting lineup for game 1 of Caribbean SeriesHAVANA, Cuba, Feb 2 (acn) Carlos Marti, manager of Granma, Cuban representative in the Caribbean Baseball Series 2018, announced his starting squad for the inaugural game of the tournament, scheduled for 2:00 pm Eastern Time today.

Granma will line-up Yulexis La Rosa as catcher, while the infield includes Guillermo Aviles as first baseman, Carlos Benitez (2B), Yordan Manduley (SS) and Raul Gonzalez (3B).

Meanwhile, Yurisbel Gracial (RF), Roel Santos (CF) and Frederich Cepeda (LF) will be in the outfield, while Alfredo Despaigne will be the DH.

The starting pitcher will be right-hander Lazaro Blanco, Cuban best pitcher last year and also elected best starter in the 2017 Can-Am League.

Cuba´s rival in the inaugural match will be Venezuela´s Anzoategui Caribes, squad managed by Omar Lopez.

The tournament will take place from February 2 to 8 in Guadalajara, Mexico, and will be a one round-round-robin contest, where the four best teams advance to semifinals.

The other three sides attending the Caribbean Series 2018 are the Aguilas Cibaeñas, from the DR; the Puerto Rico´s Caguas Criollos, defending champion; and the local squad of the Culiacan Tomateros.
