Cuban Baseball: Carlos Benitez ranks First in Grand Slams

GRANMA, Cuba, Sep 25 (acn) Carlos Benitez, Granma second baseman, has hit three grand slams in the current Cuban National Baseball Series, and ranks first in that statistic.

Benitez´s first home run with the bases loaded this season was on August 23rd against Cienfuegos, at Cinco de Septiembre stadium, and a day later he did it again against the same opponent, while the Matanzas Crocodiles were his last victim last Saturday.
Lazaro Cedeño is the other Granma player who has hit a grand slam this season, on August 22nd and also against Cienfuegos.
According to the official website of the Cuban Baseball Federation, 20 grand slams have been hit in the current campaign, and the first was blasted on August 6th by Santiago´s Adriel Labrada at Holguin´s Calixto Garcia stadium.
