HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 25 (acn) The Cuban duo of Leodannis Martinez and Tahimara Oropeza won a silver medal at the 8th International Badminton Tournament, which concluded this Sunday in the Mexican city of Aguas Calientes.
According to the official website of the contest, Martinez and Oropeza lost 2-0 (19-21 and 19-21) in the final of the mixed doubles event to Peruvians Daniel La Torre and Danica Nishimura.
Despite losing, the Cuban duet earned 2,000 points for the world ranking.
Cuba also won a bronze medal in the men's doubles event through Osleni Guerrero and Martinez, who lost in semifinals to hosts Lino Muñoz and Job Castillo.
The other winners of this tournament were Guatemalan Kevin Cordon and American Jennie Gai, men´s and women´s individual events; while Peru and Canada won the women´s and men´s doubles.
