Cuban Despaigne hits another homer in Japan

HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 19 (acn) Cuban Alfredo Despaigne hit a homer and drove in one run in the 13-14 loss of his team, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, to the Seibu Lions in the Japanese Professional Baseball League (NPB).

This was Despaigne´s 4th consecutive game hitting at least a homer and he reaffirmed himself as leader in both statistics in the Pacific League with 34 and 100 respectively.
In homeruns he is followed by American Brandon Laird (32) and his teammate Yuki Yanagita (31), while Yanagita himself with 99 and Hideto Asamura (93) are his closest pursuers in RBIs.
The Caribbean slugger is also the current absolute homerun leader for a season in Cuban baseball with 36, a record that he set in the 2011-12 campaign.
