Cuba will play against Mexico in FIVB Men´s U23 World ChampionshipHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 23 (acn) Cuba will face Mexico today on the final day of the group stage of the FIVB Men´s U23 World Championship, which takes place in Cairo, Egypt.

After the resting day and with balance of two wins and a loss, Cubans appear third in Pool A, so they are forced to beat Mexicans and await for Japan, second, to lose to the leader Brazil.
The best two teams of each group advance to semi-finals, while those ranking third and fourth will fight for the fifth to eighth seats.
Meanwhile, In the FIVB Boys´ U19 World Championship based in Riffa, Bahrain, Cuba also rested yesterday, final day of the group matches, and will face in the second round Egypt, leader of Group A.
Cubans finished fourth in their Poole with a win over Poland and three losses to Japan, France and Brazil, while Egyptians beat Tunisia, Puerto Rico, United States and lost to the local side.
Finally, the Cuban side attending the FIVB Girls´ U18 World Championship, headquartered in Rosario and Santa Fe, Argentina, was beaten by the hosts and finished last in group A, with four losses in an equal number of matches.
According to the website of the tournament, Argentina won 3-2 (23-25, 16-25, 25-20, 27-25 and 15-11), with highlight to Cubans Elizabeth Vicet, who scored 21 points, and Ailama Cese (18), while Sofia Meinardi (19) and Guadalupe Martín (12) stood out for the winning side.
Cuba, which also lost to Germany, Slovenia and South Korea, in that order, will face today Mexico, last in Group B, in the beginning of the fight for seats from 17 to 20.
