Cuba finished 14 in IAAF World ChampionshipsHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 14 (acn) With 35 units, Cuba ranked 14th in the IAAF World Championships London 2017, where the Caribbean island only won one bronze medal.

Despite the discreet result earned by the Cuban athletes in the standings, where they shared the 38th seat with five other countries, they undoubtedly had a good performance in the points table.
Pole vaulter Yarisley Silva won Cuba´s only medal in this major event.
Silva, Beijing 2015 world champion, finished third tied with Venezuelan Robeilys Peinado, both with 4.65 meters.
Other outstanding performances by Cuban athletes were achieved by Yorgelis Rodriguez who ranked fourth in the heptathlon, while Yaime Perez and Denia Caballero finished fourth and fifth in the women´s discus throw and Maykel Massó also finished fifth in the men´s long jump.
In addition, Cristian Napoles and Andy Diaz appear fourth and seventh in the men´s triple jump, while the men´s 4x400m relay also earned points when ranking sixth and Yaniubis Lopez was eighth in the women´s shot put.
Two years ago, in China, the Caribbean nation finished tenth with one silver and two gold medals.
