Outstanding Performance by Cuban Heptathlonist in World Athletics Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 7 (acn) With national record of 6,594 points, Cuban heptathlonist Yorgelis Rodriguez reached a remarkable fourth seat in the IAAF World Championships London 2017, running in England until August 13.

Rodriguez, Toronto 2015 Pan American champion and seventh in Rio 2016 Olympic Games, almost climb to the podium when finishing only 42 units behind Dutch bronze medalist Anouk Vetter (6,636).
The event was won by Belgian Nafissatou Thiam (6,784), Rio 2016 Olympic monarch, who was escorted by German Carolin Schafer (6,696), according to IAAF official website.
As for the Cuban athlete, she surpassed in 113 points her personal best record in the grueling event, thus showing the excellent competition the Barcelona 2012 world junior champion had.
Her best performance was in the high jump event with an excellent result of 1.95 m, eight centimeters above her personal best, thus earning 1,171 points, the top she reached in each of the seven events.
