Cuba to debut against the DR in Men's Pan American Volleyball Cup

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 13 (acn) Cuba will debut against the Dominican Republic in the first day of the 12th edition of the Men's Pan American Volleyball Cup, which will take place from July 25 to 30 in the city of Gatineau, Canada.

Cuba, defending champion, will also face in this stage Mexico and the United States, in that same order, its other rivals in group A.
Precisely the Americans, winners of the 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2012 editions, appear as the main rivals of the Caribbean side, which won in 2014 and 2016.
According to NORCECA website, Argentina, Puerto Rico, Canada and Venezuela make up Poole B.
Mexico conquered the crown in 2007, while Brazil did it in 2011, 2013 and 2015.
The program of the first day of competition also includes the matches Argentina-Puerto Rico, USA-Mexico and Canada-Venezuela.
The leaders of each group will advance directly to the semi-finals, while those ranking second and third will go to the quarterfinals.
In the historic medal table of the 11 editions, United States appears first with five gold and two silver medals, followed by Brazil (3-0-0), Cuba (2-0-1), Mexico (1-1-0), Argentina (0-4-2), Canada (0-2-3), Dominican Republic (0-1-3), Puerto Rico (0-1-1) and Venezuela (0-0-1).
