HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 29 (acn) Cuba lost to the strong team of Poland but still hopes to be included in the final four of the Men´s U21 World Volleyball Championships based in Brno, Czech Republic.
In match for Group E, the Europeans remain undefeated when winning 3-0 (25-17, 25-22 and 25-20) mainly supported by an effective attack led by Bartosz Kwolet, who scored 20 points, and Tomasz Fornal (12).
Inside hitters Miguel Angel Lopez (12) and Osniel Melgarejo (6) and outside hitter Marlon Yang (6), who is only 17, highlighted for the losing side.
Thus, Poland ranks first in this second round of the tournament with 2 wins and no loss, escorted by Iran (1-1), which beat 3-2 China and has better tiebreak than Cuba (1-1) and China (0-2).
China will be Cuba´s rival in the final game in this group and if winning, they have great chances of advancing as Poland should beat Iran in the other group match.
In Poole F, the other group granting tickets to the final, Brazil commands unbeaten ahead of Russia, Canada and Argentina.
Meanwhile, Italy, Egypt, USA and the Czech Republic (G), as well as Ukraine, Japan, Turkey and Morocco (H) fight for seats from ninth to twelfth.
