Cuba breaks losing streak in Can-Am leagueHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 28 (acn) Cuba broke their losing streak and beat 4-3 the Rockland Boulders, leader of the standings in the Canadian-American Independent Baseball League (Can-Am), in match heal at Palisades Park.

The hosts opened the score in the fourth inning through solo homer by 1B Joe Maloney off Cuban starting pitcher and winner Dachel Duquesne.
The Caribbean side took the lead in the bottom of the fourth when scoring four runs with five hits, including doubles by C Yosvani Alarcon, CF Victor Mesa and SS Raul Gonzalez.
Rockland managed to score twice in the sixth frame thanks to a two-RBI homer by LF Jon Smith, also against Duquesne.
However, as never seen in the tournament, Cuban relievers Yariel Rodriguez, Yoanni Yera and Leomil Gonzalez had all together an excellent performance and did not allow more freedom to the rival line-up.
Once again, Alarcon, 3 for 4, and 2B Juan Torriente (2 for 4) offensively highlighted for the Cuban team.
After this result, Cuba has balance of five wins and 14 losses and today they will play their second game against the Boulders and their starting pitcher could be right-hander Vladimir Baños.
