HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 22 (acn) Several Cubans, including Eglys de la Cruz, Beijing 2008 Olympic bronze medalist, will debut today at the 5th Ibero-American Shooting Championship based in San Salvador.
De la Cruz will be looking for her eighth title to remain as the woman with the highest amount of crowns in those tournaments in the women´s 10-meter air rifle event.
Women Lisbet Hernandez and Ainerik Cabrera will also compete in that same event; while Reinier Estopiñan, Alejandro Betancourt and Alexander Molerio were registered in the men´s 50 m pistol.
According to JIT sports publication, the also Cubans Jorge Grau, Eliecer Mora and Guillermo Luis Pias will participate in the men´s 10m air pistol event.
Related to Leuris Pupo, Cuban Olympic champion in London 2012, will look for in this contest his fifth gold medal in Ibero-American Championships in the men´s 25m rapid fire pistol.
The 5th Ibero-American Shooting Championship is attended by 88 athletes from Portugal, Brazil, Chile, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Peru, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and the hosts.
