HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 19 (acn) Cuban Angel Fournier ratified himself among the world leaders in the men´s C1 2000m event when winning the silver medal in the Rowing World Cup, with stage in the Malta Lake of the Polish city of Poznan.
Fournier crossed the finish line with time of 6: 38.670 minutes, only surpassed by New Zealander Robert Manson (6: 30,740).
Swiss Nico Stahlbert (6: 40.250), German Timole Naske (6: 43.080), British Thomas Barras (6: 45.460) and Croatian Damir Martin (6: 51.060) escorted Manson and Fournier in that order.
From July 7th to 9th, the Swiss city of Lucerne will host the third stage of the World Cup.
Fournier´s main purpose is to reach the optimum form during the World Championship, scheduled for September 25 to October 1 in Sarasota, United States.
