Cuba wins three medals in the Diamond League in OsloHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 16 (ACN) A harvest of three medals, including Yarisley Silva's gold in the pole vault, was the balance of Cuba today in the fifth stop of the Athletics Diamond League, held in Oslo, Norway.

Silva, runner-up at the 2012 London Olympics and world champion in Beijing 2015, had her best performance this year by flying over the height of 4.81 meters and earned eight points for the Diamond race.

Russia's Anzhelika Sidorova (4.75) and Germany's Lisa Ryzih (4.65), second and third place respectively, completed the awards podium.
With that outstanding performance, the Cuban pole vaulter reached her third medal in the strong Diamond contest, in which she won the bronze in Doha, Qatar, last May; while she was silver medalist in Rome, Italy, on June 8th.

Shot put throwers Yaimé Pérez finished in second place with a 66.24 m mark, and Denia Caballero (63.29), third in the event won by two-time Olympic champion Sandra Perkovic (66.79) from Croatia.

In addition, Rose Mary Almanza participated in the 800 meter race finished in seventh place with a time of 2: 00.34 minutes, eight hundredths slower than at the Baie Mahault meeting in Guadalupe, the previous month, when she won the race.

In that event South Africa's Caster Semenya (1: 57.59 minutes) came in first, followed by Francine Niyonsaba (1: 58.18) of Burundi and Margaret Wambui (1: 59.17) of Kenya, as reflected by the official site of the International Athletics Federation.
