HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 14 (acn) Cuba will debut next Saturday against Canada in the first day of group A of the 16th Pan American Women´s Volleyball Cup, with headquarters for the preliminary stage at the Eduardo Dibos Coliseum, in Lima, Peru.
According to the schedule, Cuba´s other rivals in this phase will be Peru, on Sunday 18, Chile, on Monday 19, the DR, current champions, on Tuesday 20, and Trinidad and Tobago, on Wednesday 21.
Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Puerto Rico, runner up, United States, bronze medalist, and Venezuela appear in Poole B, with stage at Lolo Fernandez Dome, in the province of Cañete, according to the website of NORCECA.
In addition to the Cuba-Canada game, the inaugural day also includes the matches Colombia-Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago-Dominican Republic, United States-Venezuela, Argentina-Mexico and Peru-Chile.
This event, which will be attended by 12 countries in search of tickets for the Grand Prix, runs until June 25th.
Cuba got the crown in the first edition of 2002 and repeated in 2004, 2005 and 2007, while Americans won in 2003, 2012, 2013 and 2015; the Dominicans triumphed in 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2016, and Brazilians, who do not participate now, were the champions in 2006, 2009 and 2011.
