Cuba wins in debut in Can-Am Baseball League

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 9 (ACN) The Cuban baseball team debuted with a resounding 8-2 win over the Trois Rivieres Eagles in the Canadian Can-Am Independent League on the Stade Stereo, inQuebec.

The team lead by Roger Machado had a fruitful opening inning this Thursday, in which they scored four times, thanks to three hits, including a two-run double by fifth batter Yosvany Alarcón.
Alarcon was the best offensive player by going 2 for 4, with three RBIs and a run scored.
Third batter Guillermo Aviles trailed him with three hits in five at-bats, 2 RBIs and one run. Left fielder Norel Gonzalez went 2 for 5.
The winning pitcher was right-handed Vladimir Banos, who pitched seven innings with six hits, eight strikeouts and a single walk. The two runs he allowed were by single homeruns.
For the Canadian team, the best on the offensive department was the Cuban Alexander Ayala, who hit 2 for 4, as sixth batter and third base.
Cuba´s line-up was as follows: Victor Victor Mesa (CF), Raúl González (SS), Guillermo Avilés (IB), Yordanis Samón (DH), Yosvani Alarcón (C), Norel González (LF), Jefferson Delgado (3B), Juan Carlos Torriente 2B) and Yoelkis Céspedes (RF).
These teams will face each other again this Friday and Machado could send to the box left-handed Yoanni Yera or right-handed Alain Sánchez.
