Cuban Despaigne leads Japan´s Pacific League in RBIs and HRsHAVANA, Cuba, Jun 1 (acn) Cuban ballplayer Alfredo Despaigne had one of his best performances this season in Japanese professional baseball (NPB) when hitting 3 for 4, with a home run and two RBIs, to tie in the leadership of both stats in the Pacific League.

Despaigne, who bats fifth and is the DH of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, now amounts 15 homeruns and 44 RBIs, thus tying in both departments with American Brandon Laird (Nippon Ham Fighters) and Japan's Hideto Asamura (Seibu Lions).
Despaigne's offensive performance was key to the 7-2 win of the Hawks over the Chunichi Dragons, who had a solo homer by another Cuban, Alexander Guerrero, his 12th of the season.
The Hawks remain in second seat in the Pacific League, 3.5 games behind the leader, the Rakuten Golden Eagles.
With his performance, Despaigne raised his BA to .280, result of 54 hits in 189 at-bats, including 8 doubles and 15 homers and he also totals 28 runs, 44 strikeouts and 24 walks.
