HAVANA, Cuba, May 30 (acn) With an excellent performance by goalkeeper Danny Echevarria, the Cuban men´s U20 soccer team tied 1-1 to Japan in its debut for group A of the Toulon Tournament, in France.
The Japanese squad had several chances to score mainly through strikers Kiroki Abe and Kiroki Ito, but Echevarria managed to save them until in the 55th minute Ito fired from 20 meters and scored a superb goal.
But Cuban substitute Rolando Oviedo scored the equalizer in the 69th minute.
Cuba´s lineup included goalkeeper Danny Echevarria, defencers Jansiel Blanco, Orlando Madrigal, Luismel Morris and Dariel Morejon; midfielders Neisser Sando, Lazaro Tuero, Eduardo Puga and Adrian Osorio, while Raycharles Herrera and Juan Andreu Milanes were the forwards.
In their second game, Cubans will face on June 1st the event current monarch, England, which debuted with a 1-0 win over Angola.
