Cuban team to participate in Can-Am baseball league begins training

can amHAVANA, Cuba, May 16 (acn) The 37 preselected athletes for the Cuban team to attend the Can-Am Independent Baseball League will begin their training tomorrow in the Latinoamericano stadium of this city.

We will have not much time, so we´ll make it to count, Carlos Lois, head of training of the Cuban National Baseball Commission, told JIT sports publication.
The list of the Cuban side includes 2 catchers, 4 infielders and same amount of pitchers who attended the previous edition of this North American circuit.
Catchers are Yosvani Alarcon (Las Tunas) and Olber Peña (Pinar del Rio), while 1B Guillermo Aviles (Granma), 2B Juan Carlos Torriente (Industriales), utility Raul Gonzalez (Ciego de Ávila) and 3B Jefferson Delgado (Matanzas) appear as infielders.
Lefties Yoanni Yera (Matanzas) and Ulfrido García (Santiago de Cuba), as well as RP Vladimir Baños and Frank Luis Medina (both from Pinar del Río) are the pitchers who will repeat in the squad.
All the outfielders will be newcomers and only Alarcon, Aviles, Delgado, Yera, Baños and OF Yoelkis Cespedes (Granma) and Víctor V. Mesa (Matanzas) were in the last World Baseball Classic.
Again Roger Machado will be the head coach of the team that won 10 games and lost nine in the previous version.
