Cuban discus throwers to participate in Shanghai meeting

HAVANA, Cuba, May 10 (acn) Cubans Denia Caballero and Yaime Perez will try to be among the medalists in the second stop of the Athletics Diamond League, to be held in Shanghai, China, on May 13.

Caballero, Beijing 2015 world champion and Rio 2016 Olympics bronze medalist, will be one of the main favorites to the podium in the women´s discus throw event.
This season, Caballero owns the seventh best record worldwide with 64.08 meters achieved in the Cuba Cup last March, in Havana.
She ranked second in that tournament behind her teammate Perez, who won with 65.57 m, fourth season best record.
So far the season, Cuba has won a bronze medal in the Diamond League through pole vaulter Yarisley Silva, who finished third in the first stop in Doha, Qatar, with record of 4.65 meters.
