Cuba wins three gold medals in Pan American Wrestling ChampionshipHAVANA, Cuba, May 8 (acn) Cuba won three gold medals in the men´s freestyle event of the Pan American Wrestling Championship hosted by the Brazilian city of Salvador de Bahia.

Dabián Quintana, in the 61 kilograms, opened the golden harvest with a 10-0 win over host David Washington Dos Santos; and then came the successes of Franklin Marén (65) and Yurieski Torreblanca (86).

Marén thus got his second crown in these contests after defeating a tough opponent like Puerto Rico's Franklin Gomez, silver medalist at Istanbul 2011 World Championships and Guadalajara 2011 Pan American champion, his same victim in the tournament of Panama 2013.

Meanwhile, Torreblanca climbed to the top of the podium when beating 12-6 Venezuelan Pedro Francisco Ceballos.

Also, Yudenny Alpajón (125) reached a silver medal after losing 3-2 in the final to American Dominique Deshon Bradley.

The other three Cuban freestylers, Reineri Andreu (57), Luis Esteban Quintana (74) and André Ramos (97), ranked third each in this tournament, according to the official website of the International Wrestling Federation.

Thus, the Caribbean island had balance of three gold, one silver and three bronze medals in the freestyle event; while in the Greco-Roman style they conquered four crowns and a second seat.
