Cuban Pole Vaulter Silva debuts today in the 2017 Diamond League

HAVANA, Cuba, May 5 (acn) Cuban Yarisley Silva, Beijing 2015 world champion, will debut today in the first stop of the Athletics Diamond League, in Doha, Qatar.

Silva, silver medalist in London 2012 Olympic Games in the women´s pole vault event, will try to be among the medalists on Qatari soil, where she will have several rivals of high quality and competitive experience.
Her toughest opponents will be Greece's Ekaterini Estefanidi and American Sandi Morris, gold and silver medalists, respectively, in Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympics.
This major competition is also be attended by British Holly Breasdale and Swiss Nicole Büchler, who ranked fifth and sixth, in that order, in Rio 2016.
After this contest in Qatar, the 2017 Diamond League will also include stops in Shanghai, Eugene, Rome, Oslo, Stockholm, Paris, Lausanne, London, Rabat, Monaco and Birmingham prior to the finals in Zurich and Brussels.
In Shanghai, on May 13, Cuba will be represented by Denia Caballero, world monarch in Beijing, and Yaime Perez, fourth in that same tournament, both at the women´s discus throw event.
