HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 28 (acn) Cuba will play against Costa Rica in the closing match of the group stage of the CONCACAF Men´s U17 Championship with stage in Panama.
The tournament is attended by 12 teams divided in three groups and grants four tickets to the FIFA World Cup to be played in India, next October.
Costa Rica leads Group B with six points, thanks to two consecutive wins and has already secured a spot for the coming phase, while Cuba has four units, as it achieved a draw and a victory.
Cubans debuted with a 1-1 draw against Suriname, but then they defeated 2-1 Canada with goals by Yandry Romero and Manuel Cruz.
Therefore, a draw today would be enough for Cubans to be included in the second round of the contest. They would only leave the competition if they lose and Surinam thrashes the already eliminated Canadian squad.
The second stage of this tournament will begin next Monday, and will include the two best teams of the three pooles, distributed in two groups of three sides each. The best two teams of each those groups will get their tickets to the world cup.
Cuba´s lineup today should include goalkeeper Danny Echevarria, and defenses Bruno Rendon, Karel Espino, Miguel Coll and Pedro Piñeiro.
In addition, Carlos Ibarra, Josue Vega, Ronaldo Rosette and Omar Pérez would be in midfield, while Yandry Romero and Brian Savigne would be the forwards.
