HOLGUIN, Cuba, Apr 7 (acn) Cuban referee Yadel Martinez was called up as an alternate to the 21st U20 FIFA World Cup, to be held from May 20 to June 11 in South Korea.
Martinez, chosen by the Cuban Soccer Association as best referee in 2016, must first undergo a pre-competition seminar on Asian lands.
Last year he worked at the Copa America Centenario, as well as in the Caribbean U-17 qualifying tournament in the Cayman Islands.
His most recent international incursions include two World Cup qualifying matches in Honduras, the last of them on November 11 between the local side and Panama.
FIFA announced a total of 22 referee trios from 34 countries, five supporting referees and 22 video assistants for the matches of the next U-20 World Cup in Korea.
