HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 3 (acn) Cuba lost to Colombia in the final of the U18 Women´s Pan American Volleyball Cup, which took place in Havana´s Sports City Coliseum with the participation of 10 teams.
Colombians won 3-0 (25-22, 25-18 and 25-19) in a game marked again by the huge amount of errors made by the local side.
The leading scorer of the match was Cuban Ailama Cese who scored 14 points, followed by Colombians Emelys Martinez (12) and Manuela Ibarguen (11).
In the bronze medal match, the Dominican Republic defeated Argentina 3-1 (22-25, 25-22, 25-17 and 25-23), while Mexico beat 3-0 (25-20, 25-18 and 25-14) Chile and finished fifth.
Puerto Rico ranked seventh, followed by Costa Rica (eighth), Uruguay (ninth) and Guatemala (tenth).
Cuba and Mexico won the two tickets to the WC the tournament granted to teams from the NORCECA area, while Colombia won the one devoted to South America region.
Argentina, as host, and the Dominican Republic, winner of the NORCECA tournament, had already won their tickets for the world championship, scheduled to take place in the Argentine cities of Santa Fe and Rosario, from August 18 to 27.
