United States beat Puerto Rico to win World Baseball ClassicHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 23 (acn) United States beat 8-0 Puerto Rico, thus winning the 4th World Baseball Classic (WBC) in a game held at the Dodger Stadium, in Los Angeles.

Marcus Stroman, American starting pitcher, earned the win after pitching six scoreless innings and allowing only one hit, with three strikeouts and one walk.
USA took the lead in the third frame when 2B Ian Kinsler hit a 2-run homer and added two more runs in the fifth thanks to RBI-singles by OFs Christian Yelich and Andrew McCutchen.
They scored thrice in the seventh mainly due to SS Brandon Crawford´s 2 RBI-single and another RBI-hit by Giancarlo Stanton.
The local side closed the score in the following inning when 3B Nolan Arenado scored an unearned run due to an error by 2B Javier Baez.
Puerto Rico thus repeated its performance of the previous edition (2013) when they also ranked second after losing 0-2 to the Dominican Republic.
The United States closed had a balance of six wins and two losses, against the DR in the first round and Puerto Rico in the second one.
They thus join to the WBC champions: Japan (2006 and 2009) and the Dominican Republic (2013).
