HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 21 (acn) Cubans Raul Diaz and Carlos Esposito leave for the United States today to compete in the two stages of a major class A snipe tournament based in Miami from March 23 to 26, and Tampa from the 28 to 30.
Carlos Hermida, coach of the Cuban team, told ACN that Diaz and Esposito will have the possibility to face the best crews in the world of that specialty in the Mid Guinter regattas, including world and Pan-American champions.
This is the second international commitment of the year for the Cuban duo, since they previously attended the Bahamas regatta where they won the gold medal and were followed by the host boat and one of the United States, two of the world powers of the Snipe event.
In addition to Cubans, Bahamians and Americans, that event was also attended by crews from Canada, Finland and Czechoslovakia.
The other Cuban boat that had international participation recently was in the women´s Laser Radial event through Sanly Castro, who also ranked first in the Martinique regatta.
