HAVANA, Cuba, Mar 2 (acn) So far, there are ten Cuban athletes already qualified to the World Athletics Championships, which will host London, England, from August 4 to 13.
In the most recent test of the national team, short hurdlers Yordan O'Farrill and Roger Valentín achieved the required records (13.42 and 13.43 seconds), respectively, at Havana´s Pan American Stadium.
Prior to that, triple jumpers Lazaro Martínez (17.07 meters), Christian Napoles (16.98) and Andy Díaz (16.84) reached their marks; as well as discus thrower Yaimé Pérez (63.07 m), according to JIT sports publication.
Leonel Suárez, 8 460 points in decathlon, and heptathlonist Yorgelis Rodríguez (6 481) are also added to this group, but their got their tickets in the Olympic Games of Rio de Janeiro 2016.
Marathoner Richer Perez, with time of 2:18:05 hours, also qualified in that summer event; while Dailín Belmonte, his teammate of the women´s specialty, got it in April 2016 with 2:42:44 hours.
The number of Cubans qualified should increase when the most competitive stage begins, especially in May, June and July, through names such as Denia Caballero and Yarisley Silva, world champions in Beijing 2015.
