Cyclists will ride seventh stage of Tour of Cuba

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 20 (acn) The Cuban National Road Cycling Tour will run today its seventh stage, with starting line in the province of Ciego de Avila and intermediate sprints in the towns of Jatibonico, Sancti Spíritus and Trinidad, as well as mountain prizes in Mirador and Topes de Collantes, both with category B.

This is a mountainous stretch, so it will be a propitious opportunity for the leaders of this category, headed by Santiago´s Pedro Portuondo (13), Guantanamo´s Frander Castillo (10) and Ciego de Avila´s Víctor Horta (8).
On Sunday, Havana's Leandro Marcos got his second consecutive win by winning the sixth stage of 106 kilometers between Camaguey and Ciego de Avila, followed by Miguel Valido (Holguin) and Yasmani Estupiñan (Matanzas).
With that victory, Marcos became leader of the points classification, while Portuondo remains as leader of the general individual classification, as well as king of the mountain.
Onel Santaclara (Guantanamo) reaffirmed his leadership in the intermediate sprints with 18 units.
Meanwhile, Hidalgo Vera (Guantanamo) commands in the U23 event, while the team classification is headed by Santiago de Cuba, Sancti Spiritus and Ciego de Avila, in that order.
