Cyclist Portuondo new leader of Tour of Cuba

SANTIAGO DE CUBA, Cuba, Feb 16 (acn) Pedro Portuondo (Santiago de Cuba) won the second stage of the 4th National Road Cycling Tour with time of 3 hours, 9 minutes and 11 seconds, becoming thus the leader of the general individual classification.

He was escorted in the awards podium by Frander Castillo (Guantanamo) and Victor Orta (Ciego de Avila).
This stage, which covered 106 kilometers from the town of Guantanamo to La Gran Piedra, is the most demanding mountain phase in the Cuban tour.
This important event is attended by teams from each of the 15 Cuban provinces.
Guantanamo´s Onel Santaclara won the two intermediate sprints of the stage, reported Pedro Campins, national commissioner of this sport.
The third stage of the Cuban Tour will be run today and will cover 122 kilometers from the towns of Santiago de Cuba and Bayamo.
