MATANZAS, Cuba, Feb 9 (acn) After outstanding performances in Colombia and Uruguay, Cuban Marlies Mejías, considered the best cyclist in the Caribbean country today, will attend from next February 16th the Province of San Juan Tour, in Argentina.
Mejías, member of the Weber Shimano Ladies Power team, told ACN she is in an excellent form to face the demanding challenge, after a period of training in the city of Buenos Aires.
Winning is the great aspiration, is the reason why I dedicate hours to daily training, I hope good results and valuable experiences, and even possible mistakes, added the girl, member of the only Latin American women´s team licensed by the International Cycling Union (UCI by its French acronym).
In her official debut with that squad in Colombia, Mejias won the intermediate sprints and points classification events, while in Uruguay she became the absolute champion by winning the individual general classification, as well as the queen of the mountain and intermediate sprints events.
Marlies Mejías, 24, has won medals in Central American, Pan American, continental games and World Cups, and she ranked seventh in the omnium event in the Rio 2016 Olympics.
