HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 30 (acn) Cuban cyclist Marlies Mejías became the absolute champion of the first Uruguay Tour when winning the fourth and final stage, 90 kilometers, of the race, during which she ratified her almost perfect performance.
Mejias, who runs for the Weber Shimano Ladies Power team, won the individual general classification with time of 7 hours, 45 minutes and 7 seconds in the almost 272 kilometers.
According to the website of the event, she won the final stage with time of 2 hours, 8 minutes and 51 seconds.
The Cuban athlete was also the leader in the first and second stages, and finished second in the two parts of the third, which included an individual time trial.
Chilean Aranza Villalón (7: 45. 41) and Argentine Mercedes Fadiga (7: 46. 15) escorted, in the individual general classification, Mejias, who also won the intermediate sprints and Queen of the Mountain (QOM) events.
The next competition of Mejias is the Tour de San Juan, in Argentina, which will be attended by high-level cyclists.
