HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 30 (acn) Pinar del Rio´s Yerisbel Miranda tops the standings of the Cuban Women´s National Chess Championship when only three days left for the end of the contest.
Yerisbel has never won at this level and now seems closer than ever after beating the day before Yaniet Marrero and now totals 6.5 points, half a unit more than Maritza Arribas.
The latter defeated Jennys Soler in 27 moves of a Sicilian defense.
The other winners of the previous round were Lisandra Llaudy, Oleiny Linares, Karen Gutiérrez and Yuleisy Hernández.
Although there are still three days left for each of the 12 contestants, it is a fact that there is going to be a new champion, as Linares, current monarch, only amounts four points and appears very far from the top.
Today´s pairings are Miranda-Yerisbel, Frometa-Arribas, Marrero-Linares, Gonzalez-Gutierrez, Campos-Hernandez and Soler-Llaudy.
