Granma beat Matanzas 11-3 in baseball semi-finalsHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 10 (acn) After winning 11-3 the game suspended by rain on Sunday, Granma appears ahead 2-1 over Matanzas in one of the semifinal playoffs of the 56th Cuban National Baseball Series.

Thus, the team coached by the experienced Carlos Marti advanced another step in search of the grand final, stage they would reach for the first time, as their best historical result was achieved in the season 1988-89 when they won the bronze medal.
The winner was Noelvis Entenza (8 wins and 3 losses) after allowing seven hits and three runs in six innings, while Yoanni Yera (13-3) took the loss in a match where Matanzas´ manager, Victor Mesa, used 10 pitchers.
Granma´s offensive highlight included back to back homers by Carlos Benitez and Frank Morejon; Benitez drove in two more runs, and Yordan Manduley scored his 1000th hit in Cuban National Baseball Series.
Meanwhile, William Saavedra hit a two-run homer for the losing side.
After three games in this play-off, Granma has scored 20 runs with 31 hits, and they won the first and third matches and lost 1-2 the second one.
