HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 6 (acn) Matanzas beat 2-1 Granma and thus tied 1-1 one of the semifinal playoffs of the 56th Cuban National Baseball Series.
It was a magnificent duel between starting pitchers Jonder Martinez, who allowed one earned run and only two hits in five and two thirds innings, and Yoalkis Cruz, who surrendered only two runs but took the loss.
The win went to lefty reliever Ramon Licor and Frank Medina earned his first save of the season after pitching three scoreless innings allowing one hit with two strikeouts.
There was offensive highlight for SS Yurisbel Gracial who scored Matnzas´ first run and drove in the second and decisive one.
