HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 14 (acn) Granma and Villa Clara resume today their dispute for the third seat in the standings of the 56th Cuban National Baseball Series when facing each other at Martires de Barbados ballpark.
They both appeared tied with balance of 44 wins and 29 losses, 11 and a half games behind Matanzas, leader of the season.
Granma´s offensive averages .296, behind Matanzas (.327) and Ciego de Ávila (.302) and ahead of Camagüey (.289), Villa Clara (.272) and Holguin (.266).
Matanzas will receive Camaguey at Victoria de Girón Park, while Ciego de Avila, current monarch, will face Holguin as home club at José Ramón Cepero stadium.
Individually, Matanzas´ Jefferson Delgado (.427) and William Saavedra (.397) top the batters, while Yordanis Samon, who also plays for the Crocodiles, is the leader in hits (106) and RBIs (60).
Granma´s Lázaro Blanco shows the best ERA (1.58), escorted by Ciego de Avila´s Raidel Martínez (1.95) and Villa Clara´s Alain Sánchez (2. 04).
Matanzas remains on top of the standings with balance of 56 wins and 18 losses, followed by Ciego de Avila (50-23), Villa Clara and Granma (44-29), Holguín (34-40) and Camaguey (32-41).
