Closer Garcia gives Ciego de Avila victory over Matanzas

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 12 (ACN) The best all-time closer of Cuban National Series, Jose Angel Garcia, starred a superb performance in Ciego de Avila´s 6-5 win over Matanzas in the first of two games last Sunday.

Garcia managed to pitch an astonishing scoreless 10th inning and Ruben Valdes hit a walk-off hit for the current monarchs of Cuban baseball.
In the second match, Garcia himself couldn´t meet his role and earned a loss when Matanzas took revenge 16-11 over the Tigers.
In the other matches, Granma beat 9-2 and 11-2 Holguin, team which will receive from today the injection of stellar infielder Yordan Manduley who has been absent during almost the entire season due to injury.
Meanwhile, Villa Clara also defeated twice (4-0 and 7-2) Camagüey.
After these results Matanzas continues on top of the standings with Ciego de Avila in the second seat while Granma and Villa Clara are engaged in a terrific fight for the third spot, meanwhile Holguin and Camaguey are practically eliminated from the play offs.
