Lack of power in Cuban baseball shows in last three games

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 7 (acn) Although 2 out of 3 matches were won by knockouts in the last day of Cuban Baseball Championship, only three homers were hit, one per game.

With his eighth home run of the season, Matanzas´ Yordanis Samón helped his team winning 11-1 over Villa Clara and Ciego de Avila´s Osvaldo Vázquez imitated him in the 14-4 thrashing over Granma.

Catcher Vázquez expanded his lead in homers to 14 and Samon, first in hits with 95, now also commands in RBIs with 55.

The other home run hitter of the day was Pedro Smith who blasted a solo homer in Camagüey´s 5-4 win over Holguín.

Matanzas-Granma, Villa Clara-Holguin and Camaguey-Ciego de Avila will be matches of the next subseries on Thursday and Friday, in the grounds of those mentioned first.
