Cuban baseball prospect dreams of playing at WBCMATANZAS, Cuba, Dec 6 (acn) Cuban ballplayer Norel González, considered one of the biggest prospects in the country, longs to represent the Caribbean Island in the 4th World Baseball Classic (WBC), to start on March 6.

González, 22, told ACN his intention to be among those shortlisted for the most prestigious baseball tournament at the national team level, which had its first edition in 2006.

Currently, Gonzalez, who plays for Villa Clara, stands out in the production of home runs (10), BA (more than .320) and RBIs (more than 40) in the 56 th National Baseball Series.

This is my best year without a doubt, said González, who takes part in his second season with Villa Clara, after making his debut with the Matanzas Crocodiles.

I learned a lot from manager Víctor Mesa during my beginning in Cuba´s elite baseball, he helped me with some batting deficiencies I dragged from youth level, noted Gonzalez, one of the major homers in U-23 tournaments in Cuba.

My biggest motivation today is to contribute as much as possible to the team I play for, only with a constant performance I will keep alive the aspirations of playing for the national side, stated "El Guajiro" (The peasant), nickname with which he is known.

Norel González, plays in the outfield and first base, bats and throws at left, and highlights along with Guantanamo´s outfielder Julio Pablo Martinez and Matanzas´ catcher Ariel Martínez as the biggest promises of Cuban baseball.
